The flat diagnostic
$80, flat, for any refrigeration cabinet inside the published service area. It buys a full diagnosis rather than a look: both compartments measured against both setpoints, the condenser located for that specific series and assessed, any stored service code recorded as found, and the failing sealed system identified before a component is condemned.
It is credited toward the repair if you go ahead. If you do not, you keep the written estimate and you owe nothing further.
Why we do not publish repair prices
Because a dual-refrigeration cabinet does not have one failure mode. A warm fresh-food compartment can be an evaporator fan, a defrost circuit, a thermistor, a restriction or a slow refrigerant loss on one of two circuits. Those are not close to each other in cost, and a price list that pretends otherwise exists to get the door open.
A published parts price is worse. Board fit on these cabinets is serial-dependent. Quoting a board number from a website and shipping the wrong one is a common and expensive mistake.
What is included in a repair
Labor, the part, the return visit if the part had to be ordered, and our own coverage: 90 days on labor and 365 days on parts. Genuine OEM parts. No aftermarket substitutions on sealed-system or control components.
Nothing is ordered and no work begins until the written estimate is approved. If a second fault surfaces during the repair, it is quoted separately before it is touched.
The one discount that is real
If your cabinet is between six and twelve years old, ask about the manufacturer's limited sealed-system coverage before you approve anything. In years 6 through 12 the sealed-system part is still covered, parts only. A homeowner may have that work done by an independent shop: the covered part is obtained from the manufacturer directly and the homeowner pays the labor. Pricing questions
- What does the $80 diagnostic cover?
- The visit, both compartment temperatures read against both setpoints, condenser assessment for that series, identification of which of the two sealed systems is affected, and a written estimate. If you approve the repair, the $80 is credited against it.
- Do you charge for an estimate?
- No. The estimate is produced from the diagnostic and handed over before anything is ordered. You are free to take it elsewhere.
- Can you quote a repair over the phone?
- Not honestly. A warm fresh-food compartment has at least five distinct causes on a dual-refrigeration cabinet and they differ by an order of magnitude in cost. We can tell you the likely range once we know the series and the measured temperatures.
- Is there a second diagnostic fee if the part takes two visits?
- No. One diagnostic per fault. If a part has to be ordered, the return visit to fit it is part of the quoted repair.
