Warranty, ours and the manufacturer's

Two separate things get confused constantly: what this company guarantees on the work it does, and what the manufacturer still owes you on a cabinet it built. The second one is worth more than most owners realise.

Replacement components in sealed bags laid beside nut drivers on a folded kitchen towel.
Parts arrive sealed and are fitted the same day they are opened. That is what the cover is written against.
Our coverage on our work 90/365

90 days on labor, 365 days on parts, counted in days from the completion of the repair. Genuine OEM parts. No aftermarket substitutions on sealed-system or control components.

Manufacturer sealed system, limited 12 yr

Parts only, in years six through twelve, on the sealed system. This is the manufacturer's published coverage on the appliance, not a promise made by this company, and it survives the use of an independent shop.

What the manufacturer publishes

2 years full parts and labor. 5 years full sealed system. 12 years limited sealed system, parts only.

The sealed system is the compressor, the evaporator, the condenser, the drier and the tubing that joins them. On a dual-refrigeration cabinet there are two of those systems, and coverage applies to each. Everything else — fans, thermistors, boards, gaskets, hinges, ice maker assemblies — sits outside the sealed system and falls under the shorter terms.

The part that saves people money

In years 6 through 12 the sealed-system part is still covered, parts only. A homeowner may have that work done by an independent shop: the covered part is obtained from the manufacturer directly and the homeowner pays the labor.

Read that carefully, because it is the single strongest honest argument for using a shop like this one. Between years six and twelve you are not choosing between "warranty repair" and "independent repair". You can have the covered part supplied under the manufacturer's terms and still choose who fits it. A compressor or evaporator failure on a cabinet in that window is frequently the difference between a repair and a replacement.

What we need to check it is the model number, the serial number and the install date. Coverage runs from installation. We ask for all three before quoting anything on a cabinet that looks to be in that age band, because it can change the number by thousands.

What we guarantee

90 days labor, 365 days parts, genuine OEM components. Labor coverage runs 90 days from completion. Parts coverage runs 365 days. If a part we fitted fails inside its window, we return and replace it, and there is no second diagnostic fee for the same fault.

We do not substitute aftermarket parts into sealed systems or control circuits. On refrigeration that is not a matter of taste: a mismatched compressor or a non-OEM board changes how the control behaves and moves the fault rather than fixing it.

What is not covered

Ordinary maintenance, condenser cleaning, damage from a supply failure or a surge, corrosion from coastal exposure, and faults arising from an installation that was wrong before we arrived. Where we find any of those, we say so in the written estimate rather than after the invoice.

Sub-Zero's terms are theirs and are subject to their own conditions and to change. Confirm current terms with the manufacturer for your specific model and install date. We are independent and do not administer their warranty.

Coverage questions

Does using an independent shop void my factory warranty?
Not the sealed-system parts coverage in years six through twelve. That coverage is parts only. The covered part is obtained from the manufacturer directly and you pay the labor, and an independent shop may perform that labor.
What does the manufacturer actually cover, and for how long?
Two years full parts and labor, five years full on the sealed system, and twelve years limited on the sealed system, parts only. The sealed system means the compressor, evaporator, condenser, drier and connecting tubing.
What is your own warranty?
Ninety days on labor and three hundred and sixty five days on parts, on genuine OEM components. Sealed-system and control parts are never substituted with aftermarket equivalents.
What do you need from me to check coverage?
The full model number and serial number from the plate, and the original install date if you have it. Coverage runs from the install date, not from the date the cabinet was built.
